In 2010 thorupART released the publication TINGATINGA: Kitsch or Quality. Bicycle enamel on board and canvas which accompanied the exhibition of the same name. This publication has now been reprinted as a hardback. The publication contains an introduction to Tingatinga paintings and a discussion of its location between art, craft, kitsch and commodity. It presents the new generation of Tingatinga artists and their painting styles and shows the development of painting styles in the 40 years that have elapsed since E.S.Tingatinga painted the first pictures of African animals.
